If you are interested in getting a license for this instrument, send Ziyauddin Khan an e-mail, ziyauddin.khan@liu.se This instrument is intended for longtime measurements which will last at least 4 weeks. Consider this before you ask Ziyauddin for a license.

 

 VSP3e: an electrochemical workstation tailor-made for energy research

 

Eight channel potentiostat / galvanostat with +/- 1A (expandable up to 800A); Ethernet connectivity, Built-in EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy)   

 

A research-grade multichannel potentiostat, the VSP-3e was purpose-built to meet the demands of energy research applications. With space allocated for up to eight channels, this potentiostat is flexible enough to meet the demands of researchers and R&D specialists alike. And with +/- 1A (expandable up to 800A with boosters), Ethernet LAN for improved multiple user/PC connectivity and EIS (optional), the instrument is especially suited to battery research applications.

 

Powered by EC-Lab, the advanced, ergonomic software that has earned itself the reputation as a benchmark for potentiostat control software, the VSP-3e boasts a wide range of unique functionality. Only EC-Lab enables users to build and modify experiments incrementally with “modify-on-the-fly” as well as give users the choice to plan their experiment from a vast array of technical presets.

 

Energy-specific functionality unique to BioLogic includes:

  • Fast CCCV shift (constant current, constant voltage)
  • Stack mode (follow individual elements in the pack)
  • BCD (Battery capacity determination)
  • Automatic plotting for Coloumbic efficiency

 

A compact, upright design reduces the instrument’s footprint and saves space in the laboratory and users can choose from independent channel or multi-electrode (CE to GND mode) configurations (a feature unique to BioLogic potentiostats) opening up new scientific research opportunities and enabling users to tailor electrode configurations to their application of choice.

Potentiostat(s) in Chem Lab Pronova

We have 6 SP 200 (one channel each), 1 bi-potentiostat (2 channel) and 1 VSP-3e (8 channel). Total we can run 16 experiments at one time. The purpose of this document is to establish rules to help for an efficient use of time and resource.

Rules:

  1. To use one should have license (Should take training from tool responsible; can be applied via Lims)
  2. Licensed users should book the machine (booking can be done via Lims) prior to their experiments
  3. At a time one user is allowed to book maximum of three channels*
  4. Users should keep in mind about their booking schedule and adjust it as per their experiment requirements
  5. After finishing the experiment, user should disconnect the machine and place it at its designated place
  6. Make sure all the crocodiles are clean and not corroded, if not please report to tool responsible
  7. Users should not move potentiostat from moving cart

 

*3 channel means one can run maximum of 3 experiments at one time. If there is an urgency to run an experiment, please talk to Xavier and Ziya so that we can find a solution.

When someone breaks the rule, call the person involved to have a discussion and deal with the situation in a good and friendly way (email is not enough). If you find that too difficult, ask the help of your boss. To each problem, there is a solution.

 

We are also dividing the potentiostat based on experiment duration:

  1. Potentiostat 1, 2 and bi-potentiostat are for short term measurements less than 1 day
  2. Potentiostat 3, 4, 5 and 7 are for long term measurement which should be more than one day and should not go beyond 4 weeks
  3. Multichannel potentiostat can be used for measurements require more than 4 weeks can go up to 12 weeks or more**

**This type of booking is not possible in Lims therefore, it should be done using logbook placed near by potentiostat.

 

Other available potentiostats:

(Biologics potentiostat 6 and 8 are in the cleanroom, 2 potentiostat Gamry in the rubber lab, 5 potentiostats Gamry are in 6th floor, 2 potentiostats ivium, 1 potentiostat autolab in 6th floor).
